Welcome. I'm Marie—and this little corner of the internet was born from my deep love of creativity.

Its my heart’s desire to be creative daily, as well as bring people closer to God in the simple, ordinary moments that make up our days. Life can be full of noise, stress, and distraction—but here, you’ll find gentle inspiration in your journey.

You’ll see a mix of recipes, creativity, advice, and faith-filled reflections along with my practical life journey. My goal is to help you discover ways to let art and God into every corner of your life—whether you’re creating, sitting at the kitchen table, spending time with family, or in quiet prayer.

The name Lamb + Oak is more than just a pretty pairing of words—it’s woven from the people and faith that shaped me.

The Oak comes from my grandmother, who was always the steady strength in my life. Like the oak tree described in Isaiah 61:3—“oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor”—she was deeply rooted in wisdom, faith, and strength. Her unconditional love and steady presence gave me hope through life’s storms, and her words often return to me when I need grounding.

The Lamb comes from my Aunt Stuart, who lovingly called us her lambs. She carried such tenderness and wisdom, always guiding with love. To her, being a lamb was a reminder that we belong to the Good Shepherd, safe and cared for under His watch. Her gentleness taught me that strength isn’t always loud—sometimes it’s found in quiet love and soft guidance.

And of course, the name finds its deepest roots in Scripture:

  • Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world (John 1:29).

  • The oak, under which the angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon (Judges 6:11), reminding us that God shows up in ordinary places to call us into extraordinary faith.

It is a reminder that life is best lived when we are rooted in strength like the oak, yet tender and trusting like the lamb.

My hope is that you enjoy some recipes, advice, everyday tips, occasional art, and leave here feeling uplifted, not overloaded. That you’re reminded of what matters most—and inspired to create a life that feels like home, in every sense of the word with Christ at the center. We are all on this journey together friends.

Take a deep breath. You’re welcome here!

Here are 13 fun facts about me:

  1. I love cemeteries because they remind me that everything is temporary. A side bonus is that you can always get a parking space at a graveyard; grand reflection can be found there.

  2. I believe we should bring back Mercantile-type stores instead of big bulk corporate stores. I said it!

  3. According to records, I have several famous people in my family history. William Wallace (Braveheart), Mary Queen of Scots (from a long line of kings and queens), Milesius, King of Spain, Nial the great, to name a few, and possibly Captain John Smith (you've probably heard this name mentioned with Pocahontas). Interesting when you dive into history.

  4. I don't get giddy with celebrities. They are just people. However, I have had a long time love of Elvis Presley.

  5. I'm more on the crunchy side of living. I'll take holistic and fresh whenever I can.

  6. I love to read and learn new things. My favorite book could change at any point in time, but my current favorites are 'Chop Wood, Carry Water.' I believe every teenager should read it before entering adulthood. There are many lessons to be learned inside. Another top favorite would be 'Green Lights' by Matthew McConaughey. Of course, I love books filled with art , and children's books will always be endearing to me no matter my age.

  7. I'm a sucker for sappy love stories. I absolutely adore the Hallmark and Great American Family channels. I know...true girl. Yeah. Yeah. My fave movie series right now is "After" from the books by Anna Todd. and The Heartland Series. All stories where love prevails. I've been told you can't live in a fantasy world. Why not? It's a better place.

  8. I have a profound love for animals and nature. But, you probably could have guessed this one.

  9. I was predominately raised by my grandmother (though my precious father was there too). I was also crazy about my Aunt Stuart, and my two uncles Bill, and Frank. There is such wisdom to be gained from older people who have been through life experiences. It can greatly behoove you to stop and make chatter with them; to learn some history and gain some knowledge. From these main characters in my life growing up, I learned much.

  10. I love singing. Not necessarily in the shower, but more in a side-seat driving kind of way.

  11. Did I mention I love to learn? =). Aside from Art and Writing, I have diploma's/certificates in various mediums including but not limited to photography, interior decorating, nutrition, and professional organization.

  12. I love crafts and DIY projects, and I may have a slight wool yarn obsession… not to mention my love for beautiful stones! I’m constantly inspired by the incredible natural resources God has given us. Truly, His creativity and wisdom are awe-inspiring!

  13. I strongly advocate for minimizing our environmental footprint. It's crucial to protect our farmlands and the surrounding natural habitats. Our survival, as well as that of all living organisms, depends on it. The lush greenery is being sacrificed for concrete, corporations, and factories. A  trend that must be halted. Nature was provided by a higher power for our sustenance, yet we're disrespecting it. These things lack the inherent beauty that nature offers.

I hope you have a little better insight into who I am. Give me slow, artful, peaceful living any day.
