When You're Feeling Lost: Finding Faith and God's Direction

Have you ever had a season where you just felt… lost?
You know, the kind of season where your prayers feel like they’re bouncing off the ceiling, you’re not sure which way to go next, and no matter how hard you try to “figure it all out,” everything feels foggy and unclear?
If that’s you right now—sweet friend, you are not alone. I’ve been there too. More than once.
But here’s the thing I’ve learned: God doesn’t disappear when we can’t see the road ahead. In fact, those very moments of uncertainty can become sacred spaces where our faith deepens, and we start to learn what it really means to trust.
What Do You Do When You’re Searching?
First, give yourself permission to be honest with God.
He already knows your heart, so there's no need to pretend. Sit with Him. Cry if you need to. Write in a journal. Walk in silence. Pour it all out.
Psalm 34:18 tells us,"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit."
If you're feeling crushed, He’s not far away. He’s closer than your next breath.
How Do You Hear His Voice?
Sometimes we want God to shout answers from the sky or send us a billboard on the freeway. (Wouldn't that be convenient?) But more often, He whispers. His direction shows up in gentle nudges, quiet thoughts, unexpected peace, or words that leap off the page of your Bible.
"Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, 'This is the way; walk in it.'"—Isaiah 30:21
Start small. Open your Bible. Sit with a verse. Wait. Listen. His Word is alive, and He speaks through it.
You're Not Alone in the Silence
If the waiting feels long, remember that some of the greatest faith stories in Scripture happened in the middle of uncertainty.
Think of Joseph in prison, David on the run, or even Jesus in the wilderness. God didn’t abandon them—He was preparing them. Strengthening them. Loving them, even when they couldn’t see it.
Jeremiah 29:13 says,"You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart."
He wants to be found. He’s not hiding from you—He’s walking with you, even if the path isn’t clear yet.
Little Ways to Anchor Your Faith
If your heart is feeling wobbly right now, here are some things that have helped me steady myself:
Write down the last time you felt God's presence or direction—remind yourself of His faithfulness.
Play worship music and just breathe.
Go outside, take a walk, and notice His creation.
Talk to someone you trust—God often speaks through the people in our lives.
Keep showing up. Even when it’s hard. Keep praying, reading, sitting with Him.
He Sees You, Right Now
You may feel unseen, unheard, or directionless—but He sees you. And He is with you.
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."—Proverbs 3:5-6
Let this be your reminder today: You are not walking alone. Your Father is guiding, shaping, and walking beside you, even when the road feels uncertain.
Hold on to hope. Keep seeking. And trust that even in the silence, He is speaking.
With faith,
XO, Marie
